If you're interested in becoming a Kumon franchisee, here's what you'll need:
- A bachelor's degree in any field (if you haven't completed this yet, relevant experience as a Kumon centre assistant might also be considered).
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Reliable transportation to your franchise (e.g., car, bus, or train). Keep in mind that the exact location of your franchise will be confirmed later.
- A willingness to operate your franchise at least four days a week.
We will also ask for a copy of your ID for verification purposes.
In addition to these basic requirements, there are some important qualities that will help you succeed as a Kumon franchisee:
- Strong leadership skills
- Passion for working with children
- Good knowledge of maths and English
- Business and organisational know-how
- Clear and effective communication
- Being active in your local community

When you open a Kumon franchise, you will be required to run it for at least four days a week in a commercial venue. We are looking for franchisees who are available between 3:30pm and 7:00pm. Some existing franchises currently run two days a week, but they'll transition to four days once a new franchisee takes over.
Beyond running your franchise, you will need to dedicate time to preparing students' work for class. In the first year, this may take a little extra time as you get more familiar with the process. There are also plenty of opportunities for ongoing professional development, like monthly seminars, training sessions, and working closely with consultants to help grow your business. In the first year, you will also need to study various levels of worksheets, which could take up to a month of full-time work.
